Just out the other side of an astounding weekend. An unbeatable 3 day 50th birthday which included multiple banquets, raving babies, many dogs, much music, hot tub, bonfire, waterslide, napping, great coffee & old & new friends. An incredible mob of people, it makes me homesick for north Otago.
Stunning right now at Whare Flat. Wonder if it will snow tomorrow...
Got the shit done I needed to get done this morning. This afternoon it's off to weekend shindigs for an old mate's 50th
Knocking around Dunedin this morning. Yell if you want to catch up for a coffee
At my favourite roastery in the whole world (Mazagran), having a perfect coffee. Life is good
Dunedin lovelies, I'm aiming to head to Woof! about 5 for a cocktail and good food. If you are about and feel like it, you are welcome to join me :)
Oh the glory of committing a sick burn on my National voting mother, who thought she was being clever. On the family channel, so my sister & bro in law are now cackling.
Good morning Invercargill, I am in you. Any recommendations for local conveyancing lawyers?
Ah yes Invercargill, the only place I can just about be guaranteed a professional misgendering by bar staff. Although it may be my poncy purple floral Ben Sherman button up & black jeans, when every other guy is wearing check shirts and moleskins or rugby shorts.
Caught up with a FWB mate. Really good to see him again. Not so great was his news about the big C. Treatable at this stage. Fuck this grown up shit, luckily there was black humor.
A bluebird day driving down the west coast from Lake Mapourika. Stopped at Ship Creek and botanised a cool patch of coastal podocarp forest being encroached by stunning pingao dominated dunes. Now chilling in a motel in Alexandra, washing me smalls and watching Cowboy Bebop
Can I stop my posts being reposted? It's really annoying when you post a pic and immediately a bot content scrapes it
Morning from Lake Mapourika. Kea flying over at 6am. Too icy to go anywhere until 9am
Car camping (fancy talk for sleeping in my Subaru outback) at Lake Mapourika. It is very dark, the moon and a planet (Venus?) are hanging out together. Ruru are calling and I have a cup of tea and gingernuts
Marble hill tonight. Just found out it's meant to snow in the pass tonight, hope it doesn't come this far west.
Kohatu Junction and the Whare Creek intersection are very similar. Except Kohatu has a cafe, which is currently pumping.
Lying awake too early at a campground in Havelock, thinking about what to wear when I visit the Nelson market this morning, on the off chance @georgepenney.bsky.social happens to see me doing something whimsical and describes me!
Spent twenty minutes looking for a code in my email, went online and decided getting gear together to go down south needed doing. Maybe next year InternetNZ agm.
Checking the clock to see if it's late enough to go to bed. Damn.
I have a friend recently from the US, and I keep having to translate "NZisms". Just told them about the cultural importance of Bad Jelly the Witch to Gen Xers, and Spike Milligan and the Goons, and that's why I called my cold a "Lurgy"
I've been looking at possible routes on foot between Poneke and Kāpiti in the event of a big earthquake. Challenging. I think for anyone who works in town & has to head north it's worth having a paper map in your bag.
Urgh. I has the lurgy. This is because I took a day off, and I have 2 weeks off from next Saturday, and a shitload of stuff to do before then.
