You can call me Randi (she/they, either works)! I'm a hobby artist sharing my growth and goofing around in FFXIV. Spoilers ahoy as I go through MSQ (Just made it to Endwalker)! I try and do my best to give other artists their flowers! ( ノ ゚ー゚)ノ💐

hey, do you want to speed up your gposing SO MUCH??? Confused about Three Point Lighting and how to best use it? Save this and load it in any time you want to do a screenshot, as it'll help you figure out Where The Light Is Hitting Your Subject, and How You Want To Change Your Lighting. [alt txt]

a standard 3 point lighting set up, with key light, fill light, and back light all facing at various angles towards an object.a standard screenshot of xan'a thum, who is looking pretty dark and flat. the lighting in the ossuary is very moody, but it's causing details to get lost and frankly what lighting is there is very low quality. We start by setting each of the lights to 255 in either Red, Green, or Blue. At this point, I would save the camera location (green button on the gpose settings) then begin to apply my lights, based on the first picture.OH WOW LOOK AT THAT. The green stands out from the red, while the red melds partially into the blue; this shows us where the lighting is going to overlap most on the subject, as well as how the fill light is going to mainly illuminate the subject. At this point, save the lighting set up (or adjust if you want your lighting to be pointing from a different location or not) with the green button on the gpose settings. Because we saved the lighting at this point, this means that any time we want to take a gpose, we can just go load the saved lighting (Our pure RGB lights) and immediately start adjusting based on if we want the lighting to be hitting differently or not.A screenshot of Xan'a with adjusted lights (with bonus portrait preview mode turned on.) Although this shot is still very basic (I would likely go play around with the camera and composition), the lighting is already leagues ahead on readablility. If I want it to be darker and more moody, I can also trend all of these lights downward as well. This took me maybe 2 minutes to set up.
