🚨 New SDM-methods paper fresh out of the science oven! 🍞📊 We developed super simple data thinning methods to tackle an oversimplified and superficially addressed issue in SDMs --- environmental sampling bias! doi.org/10.1002/ecog... @zurelllab.bsky.social @bleroyecology.bsky.social 🧵(1/8)

Correcting environmental sampling bias improves transferability of species distribution models

Sampling bias is an inherent problem in widely available biodiversity data, undermining the robustness of correlative species distribution models (SDMs). To some extent, subsampling occurrence data c....

Congrats to Cam Ly Rintz for her first study, published today in GCB! She tested the hypothesis that climate is a barrier between biogeographical regions in the Southern Ocean. The same 🌡️ (8°C) separates all lanternfishes ➡️ climate change consequences onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Biogeographical Regions and Climate Change: Lanternfishes Shed Light on the Role of Climatic Barriers in the Southern Ocean

We developed a method to predict how groups of species may shift with climate change by modelling biogeographical regions—areas with similar species. Focusing on lanternfishes in the Southern Ocean, ....

Ecological impacts of biological invasions are so numerous & diverse, it's a mess +, we often mix mechanisms & impacts, causes & consequences So, we created a structured typology of these impacts. Now that it's done, it looks simple & obvious 🤓 read&share🙏 👉 authors.elsevier.com/a/1k%7EhNcZ3...
