I spent 2 weeks every summer at my mom's family cabin on Hood Head Island when I was a kid. I took Wyatt there for the first time today and he wanted to show the place off. For the first time we have two boys going back to school simultaneously! Henry is heading into third grade and Wyatt is starting first. They've both been asking all summer when the school year was starting. It's great that they're eager to learn and we know they'll have a great time.

This is why I always hit up Half Price Books when I'm near one. Finding releases that aren't on Blu-ray for less than $6 apiece and being able to check the condition before buying. Wish I still had one nearby, though I would likely be browsing the shelves for hours weekly.

The Yeti, premiering on Shudder August 7th, starts strong. A scene in the 1947 Alaskan wilderness at a trading outpost gets a knowing serial feel, heightened reality, ending with a woman covered in blood and a man ripped in half over an awesome title card. The William Pisciotts & Gene Gallerano written-and-directed film immediately follows up with a grand newreel introduction for the characters and plot, throwing back ala Rocketeer, Phantom, Atlantis: The Lost Empire (especialy in the character set), and the like; gaining the spirit of high flying adventure (with horror) as the adult children of the men in the opening, those men being “names for the poster” William Sadler and Corbin Bernstein, head to the wilderness to look for the missing dads. Britany Allen leads as Ellie Bannister, with notable indie director and actor Jim Cummings (see his The Wolf of Snow Hollow or his role in the awesome Last Stop in Yuma County – seriously go watch that now) leading the cast.

It's finally happening!! BARBARIAN arrives in physical format for the first time on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray SteelBook on August 11.

We started off summer with a day in Seattle. First stop was the new waterfront ride Sasquatch Mountain. Lance Henriksen wasn't there, but we saw an awesome animatronic Bigfoot out front before going inside for a VR experience. Wyatt's review: "That was the greatest thing I've ever done in my life!"
