The most egregious sin that THE NEW MUTANTS commits is wasting the pitch-perfect casting of Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams. I was a NEW MUTANTS fanatic in the '80s, and I cannot think of two more perfect people for those roles in a totally frustrating mess of a movie.
Mad respect for post-production in general. @craigceravolo.bsky.social just worked a miracle on an upcoming HIP POCKET episode, and my entire creative career, I have been amazed at what a good post team can accomplish and transform and elevate.

My take is that Emily Wilson has the problem many people do. She cannot stop reacting to the version of the movie she would have made instead of the version someone else made. She is a great translator. She's not a very good film critic.
