Our neighbourhood has some stunning gardens. The little pink rose is ours. It struggles, each year, to produce one, maybe two blooms. It needs a good hard prune but more desperately, sunshine. The original owners planted it in what turned out to be, over the decades, shade.
Perfect! I smugly thought when I typed the last full stop of the first draft. As the red pen attests, I was wrong. Hopefully things will improve by the fifth or sixth draft.
It is extremely funny that fear of negative PR has created a clearance process that is so slow that it is generating negative PR

Espied on our afternoon walk. A wall of azaleas, right around the corner house. Who needs fences when you can such colourful shrubs. Brilliant!
I am still salivating at the thought of this superb buttermilk cake. Wish I had thought to get a take home pack!
Found on the street! I guess we have Nic to thank for these little treasures. Given the festive theme of two of them, perhaps I should save them for a Christmas stocking. Scarily, we have to start thinking of that soon!
Some more of the locals getting into the pre-Halloween swing of things.
I've only recently become acquainted with the Australian Women's Register which highlights the achievements of extraordinary women. I confess I only knew Sonia McMahon because of that dress & as a prime ministerial appendage. I stand embarrassed and corrected. www.womenaustralia.info/entries/mcma...

Mainly random shots of divine wisteria round the neighbourhood. One is from University House.
Two walks: lunch time with blossoms; end of day with spectacular sky. I may live in suburbia but it has so many different 'faces'. Every walk, even if on the same path, is a surprise.
A mid-morning treat. Chocolate, chai, and croissant!

Worker bees! While they are out gardening, I am in the office office-ing. It's going to be a tiring day for all of us.
For various reasons the trip to Tulip Tops has been deferred until next year. Something to look forward to! It was a beautiful day so I decided to hike out in search of local blossoms and my, what a magnificent display! At the wetlands, just a ten minute or so walk from home.
That melting moment is huge! And it is one of the best I have tasted. And only four dollars!
I've just heard from the Australian Dictionary of Biography that my article on Jack Sandford (30 Squadron; Beaufighter pilot extraordinaire) has gone online. Check it out! It's my 5th for the Dictionary & is coincidentally published exactly 8 years after my 1st entry! adb.anu.edu.au/biography/sa...

Twilight walks are getting dangerous. Yesterday, I was razzed three times by an over protective magpie (as if I could climb high enough to get at their nests) and today, once. In different spots; different routes. Note to self: change direction (again) and wear your sun hat - even at dusk.
