To the person noting there is not enough money in the world to license every piece of intellectual property stolen for "AI" training: you're sooooo close to the point, friend, keep going, you'll get there if you try

This thread is so great! 🤩 To avoid annoying resizing, figured I'd mention an alternative to {ggview}: {showtext} can resize all text to a specific dpi Text is the part that I find I have to fiddle with most when saving #ggplot2 plots, so this usually works for me 😀 #rstats #dataviz

library(showtext)
showtext_opts(dpi = 300)
ggsave(
  plot = my_plot,
  file = "file_name.png",
  width = 6,
  height = 4,
  dpi = 300
)

If you missed today's @rinpharma.bsky.social workshop, here are a few of my favourite "quick fixes" for some common #ggplot2 issues 📊 1. Use {ggview} to preview plots at the same size and resolution as you want to save them with ggsave() to avoid the annoying resizing #RStats #DataViz

library(ggview)
ggplot(mtcars, aes(wt, mpg)) +
  geom_point() +
  canvas(
    width = 6, height = 4,
    units = "in",
    dpi = 300
  )

Anyone else's house experience The Witching Hour? In which all animals and humans and appliances go wild at the same time? Overstimulated is not a strong enough word. I need a much punchier one.

Samsung... why you like dis? Why only display the "set" or target temp (twice) instead of the actual measured temp, which you DO have a json variable for, which I can clearly see in the advance web app browser version of your dumb app 😂 Where do I file a GitHub issue?? @sumsung.bsky.social

Smart things app showing the set temperature of a Samsung fridge and freezer twice instead of showing the actual temperature vs the set temperature The Smart Things advanced web app view of a Samsung fridge and freezer showing json data filtered to the temperatureMeasurement variables which access the current temps.

Husband and I have been together 20 years next month, and we've never - not once - had a fridge with an ice maker in it. Today, we say goodbye to a trusty old fridge and we get a new one. Now taking bets on how soon our brand new appliance breaks 😂 Also, the water line behind our fridge exploded 🫡

The last tiny bit of a Mac OS update is always such a tease. It looks small. It says 5 minutes. But then those 5 minutes last forever, and my next meeting is staring me down on the calendar while I reconsider my life choices.

A blue progress bar with very little left until it reaches the end

There are wonderful humans in this world. They come in all sizes, patterns, colors, textures, and shapes. They have experiences that shape them, and those experiences probably don't look like the ones that shaped you. There are a billion+ ways to be a person. Be curious! Listen and see. Think!

Today at #positconf2026, I went rogue and interrupted the evening keynote with a nonsensical virtual poll because of some (hilarious?) technical issues 👀 You had to be there virtually, I promise it would have made sense. ANYONE WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME! They haven't fired me yet 👉🏼👈🏼

I've been a huge Beatles fan since I was really little. Half my ill-advised internet passwords were (are? Internet is forever?) Beatles references. It's not something I talk about, it's just something that is. I love the Beatles 🤷🏻‍♀️ What's something you don't talk much about, but just IS for you?

Voicemail: "This is XYZ at Dr. ABC's office wondering if you could reschedule your appt. Give us a call back at <phone number>!" I call back at <phone number>: "Thank you for calling, I'm <AI bot name>. How can I help you?" ::round & round get nowhere, no resolution, hang up:: I hate it here.

Today was cursed. CURSED. Everything went wrong. Everyone needed something from me when I had no answers for them. Everything I did was wrong. I ran over a curb. My baby didn't cooperate with the ultrasound. I failed my first gestational diabetes test. I'm anemic again. I didn't get the email out.

My brain has really clocked out for the day, but I have at LEAST a few more hours of work to do. My brain, like a lot of brains, doesn't have more than 2-4 hours of "focused work" in it - whatever the heck that means for an ADHD brain (eye roll at capitalism) - & pregnancy has truly shortened that.

In #Positron or #VSCode, have you tried using the Native Tabs setting? `"window.nativeTabs": true` in the settings.json will get you there. You can switch between different projects in different tabs! Caveat: it changes your custom title bar! 😩 #databs #rstats lucasprag.com/posts/underr...

VS Code Native Tabs: manage multiple projects without juggling windows

VS Code Native Tabs let you group all your project windows into one tabbed interface — no more Cmd+Tab hunting. Here's how to set it up in 2 minutes.

When someone's feedback or advice to you amounts to, basically, "be less like you," it *should* be easy to ignore, right? But we know it's not really that easy, and that it can cause us to doubt ourselves. Returning to ourselves, questioning feedback a little bit, it can be an act of resistance ❤️

No one has benefitted more joyously from my pregnancy cravings than my husband I'm a frugal person, & we have spent many a year only eating at a restaurant once a week or less Now, he makes it his duty to fulfill any craving, & he's LOVING getting to partake of all this "outside" food 😂
