I brought the adult female Spiny Softshell 3D-printed model to the park to take pictures of her and BOY did that attract a lot of attention... 😆 I just made the file available if anyone wants to try to print her themselves. Keep in mind she's kind of huge though! 48cm long carapace.

I tried something new when making the eyes for this spiny softshell model. Usually I just 3D print a sphere for eyes and then paint on the surface of it and then clear coat it. This time, I recessed the iris and pupil. I Painted them, and then built up the lens of the eyes with UV resin. WAY COOLER!

I think it's important for people to learn what species they have locally so they can be excited about them and feel some responsibility for their well-being. Since we as a species have largely taken over the planet, it seems like the right thing to do: make sure other species can still live here.🐡🐍

I've added two fully finished models of Great Auk eggs to Savimade.ca. Great Auks were hunted to extinction in the 1800s. Their eggs were also highly sought after by Victorian egg collectors. These models are 3D prints that were covered in spackling compound, sanded, and painted. #SciArt

This is a 3D printed and painted American Toad model. 🐸 I finished the original sculpt about 6 years ago so I revisited and updated it to my liking. I printed it in resin on an Anycubic Photon mono m5s and painted it with Golden high flow acrylics using both an air brush and paint brushes.

I had another painting night with my girlfriend this weekend. This time we painted 3D-printed Strawberry Poison dart frogs (Oophaga pumilio). Printfiles available: savimade.ca. No 3D printer? You can reach out via the website and I can print some copies for you to host your own paint night!
