Everyone who works in the field has horror stories of treatable patients dying bad deaths as a result of being sold snake oil. Newly diagnosed patients are identified through online surveillance (Google FB etc) and fed targeted ads for treatment that will result in their death. Should be a crime.
I am a palliative care provider in a cancer center. There is this belief that cancer cells alone are fed by sugar and I have to teach basic kreb cycle science to patients so they don't starve themselves in an attempt to starve cancer cells. These quacks are killing people.
