Couldn’t resist these marine fish figures in a local shop in Palermo they had loads of quite accurate Mediterranean fish species so picked some that are also present in UK waters, I feel that number will raise in the coming years.
Saw this beautiful taxidermy of a sturgeon in Palermo recently hopefully get some swimming back in British rivers soon (native ones not the dumped pets everyone catches)
I’ve got a couple spaces left on my ray charter trip 19th Oct from Cardiff if interested get in touch!
Not many fisheries have Prussians in the UK so far, this was a fairly chunky one caught by my mate Leigh today. The fishery has had them DNA tested and EA are aware of them. They look a bit like giant goldfish and can clone themselves with other fish providing the sperm very weird fish.
Next week is the final episode of The Bearded Tit's Podcast. I started the show during covid over 6 years ago and its grown into a amazing community of people All episodes should still be availabe where ever you get your podcasts from and will also be on Youtube.
It's been a superb year for grey triggerfish in the UK enjoying the warm water. Most will die off in the winter storms but this time of year they are pretty much at peak numbers.
Looking forward to speaking at the Wantage Literary Festival on the 29th of October speaking about UK rivers and my latest book do join if you can!

Most people think of Norway for halibut but we do get them in the UK also especially northern scotland where these giant flatfish are top predators.
This pokemon looking critter is the lumpsucker so imaginatively called because it sucks onto rocks with a disc on its belly and is lumpy. More common in the north of britain they like kelpy areas to hide away in.
Eyes perhaps bigger then her belly pike will eat fish over half the body length even when they are small.
Little test for you all what kind of flatfish is this then?
I'm yet to see a stingray in the UK but they are turning up in impressive numbers now on the south coast.

Wolffish are a more northern species found in some coastal scottish waters but more often associated with Norway. The blunt teeth are perfect for crushing urchins, crabs and shellfish.
This week's video is about keeping sticklebacks in a aquarium
