Today I am wondering. What were this beetle's last thoughts. I found it at a parking garage, give me your best last thoughts. Me, I wonder if it was trying to get back to the plants.

The wings are my focus today, almost finished with this piece! #sciart #bugsky #traditionalart #gardeningfeed
Today I faced the shiny part of the beetle head on. Start painting and the rest will come, just like always. But what do you think, does this read as shininess to you? #sciart #invertefest #gardeningfeed #bugsky
Starting with the dark green. Honestly, the shiny parts feel a bit intimidating. I'll have to face them soon! #sciart #invertefest #gardeningfeed #traditionalart
Here's a chance to see the Central Penn cryptid, the Albatwitch in person! My piece will be in the Autumn Spirits show at the 717ArtsCommunity gallery, opening this weekend in Harrisburg, Sunday, 5pm-8pm. #spooky #artsky #cryptid #centralpenn
While I had green paint mixed, I made a quick sketch of my hand. #sketchbook #artsky #journal #painting #anatomy
Going for a green. This color felt surprisingly challenging to choose but I think I made the right pick. We'll see if my hunch is correct! #sciart #invertefest #painting #relax
Drawing the June beetle, I found this in a parking lot, it felt like a gem from the sky. #sciart #gardeningfeed #nature #invertefest
Starting a new insect, this is a June Beetle, found in July, weirdly enough. #bugsky #gardeningfeed #sciart #invertefest
Something a bit mor spooky from the art desk. It is that time of year. If you want to see how it turned out, stop by Zoetropolis in Lancaster, it's on display all month! #artsky #mementomori #natureart #spooky #grim
I mostly share the art I make, which is the fun part, but there are other parts in the life of an artist that are less fun. Fellow artists: I wanna know! What are the tasks you enjoy the LEAST about art-making? For me, resizing images always feels like a drag. #artsky #sciart #illustration #artists

The Albatwitch is short and hairy. Naturally, I am having a lot of fun making this guy hirsute! #cryptid #penandink #artsky #illustration #weird
Pass without Trace from start to finish. This piece will be on display in Lititz, PA for the month of October at Weaving Willow Crafts, stop by to check it out! #sciart #videoart #gardeningfeed #invertefest
Today I'm celebrating my local cryptid, the Albatwitch, or apple snitch. It has a special interest in the Smokehouse apple, a variety from Lancaster county. #cryptid #sketchbook #legends #lore #folktales
Day 23 #SciArtSeptember prompt is copper so I am sharing my #linocut of the first woman to earn a doctorate in science, physicist and professor Laura Maria Caterina Bassi Veratti (née, & known throughout her life as Bassi, 1711-1778). 👩🏼🔬🧪🐡🎢 #histsci I’ve shown her surrounded by the sort of
Pass without Trace, close up. This piece has a lot happening, this should get you closer to the details. #sciart #gardeningfeed #bugsky #traditionalart #invertefest
Pass Without Trace, 2026 16"x20", Gouache on Bristol The dogbane tiger moth can hear and interfere with bat echolocation, making their location difficult to track, quite a spell indeed. Original available. DM or link in bio for price + details. #sciart #moths #gardeningfeed #invertefest
I found a stand of dogbane nearby and have taken several trips to capture the details I want to include. It doesn't look like much yet, but these plants will come along. #sciart #gardeningfeed #moths #hike #invertefest

And one more session completing the wings. I was trying to create a subtle effect where the moths at the top of the page have wings that are slightly less white in color. #sciart #bugsky #moths #traditionalart
