GMB WIN 🎉: Coastguards secure GMB recognition 💪 Coastguards are set for union recognition after the Maritime and Coastguard Agency agreed to talks with GMB 👏👏

The £500m handed to teachers from school support staff pensions could have: 🏫 Given every teaching assistant £1000 🎨 Boosted school support worker pay by £600 School support staff are badly paid and undervalued - and rightly furious at the decision from government.

The PM’s speech was full of hope and addressed issues GMB members face daily 💦 An actual plan for water 🧑‍⚕️ National Care Service 🧍 Help for young people 🔥 Reduced energy bills The Government must now roll up its sleeves and deliver 💪

Apprenticeships are vital: for defence manufacturing and for young people's life chances. Watch our member and Appledore apprentice Jack Partridge 👇👇 #Lab26

The Chancellor’s speech was full of hope and optimism for a reindustrialised Britain. From shipyards in Devon, to Merseyside, Rolls-Royce in Derby to the banks of the Clyde. GMB members across the UK can’t wait to get started on a steady drum beat of work that can transform their communities.

Today’s announcement is a massive boost for our shipbuilding sector These yards have kept our country safe: the ships that beat the Armada and the Bismarck. But for too long contracts have been sent overseas. This policy will reinvigorate UK yards and the communities that depend on them.

BREAKING 🚨: 100% of Barnsley nursery workers back move to strike vote over pension threat 💪💪 Outsourced company Limetree wants to slash their pensions and remove death in service payment 🙅

If there’s a surplus in school support staff’s pension scheme - it should go to them. Not used to boost teacher’s pay. School support staff are the lowest paid education workers. Why should their pension scheme be misused this way? Our letter to the Education Secretary 👇

GMB WIN 🎉: Uranium enrichment workers secure 4.5% pay rise The new pay deal at Urenco's Capenhurst site has ended strike action - with backing from 80% of workers 💪

Raiding school support staff pensions to fund teacher's pay is a disgraceful move. Slashing teaching assistants, catering staff, and other workers pension contributions to pay for a £500m teacher payrise isn't acceptable We are taking our members' concerns straight to ministers

BREAKING 🚨: GMB analysis shows that more than 600,000 council workers have been lost since 2012 🚛 Staff such as carers, refuse workers and teaching assistants are disappearing across England and Wales - with the East Midlands worst hit 🙅

500 million bricks are sitting unused in warehouses. That's enough for two Kidderminsters. All as brick manufacturers are mothballing plants. And housebuilding targets will be missed. We need a joined up strategy for housebuilding: to protect jobs and deliver homes.

We've polled our school support staff members: the findings are shocking 🏗️ Almost 1 in 4 work in buildings with asbestos 💩 More than a quarter in damp + mould 🌊 Over half face leaky roofs 🏃‍➡️ 35% lack key PE facilities 📚 17% don't have books for all ages This can't go on.

Octopus Energy needs to recognise GMB. We have hundreds of members there who are clear: they want their union to negotiate with bosses. Other energy suppliers work with unions to improve pay and conditions. Why not you @octopus.energy?

The Bank of England has paid a record £35m in bonuses. But their boss Andrew Bailey has previously called for wages to be curbed to halt inflation, All as his staff are landing tens of millions in 'performance awards'. One rule for me, and one for thee. It just isn't acceptable.

Today's launch of driverless taxis in London is concerning. There is no plan to deal with the fallout of potentially thousands of people losing their jobs. TfL and the Government urgently need to consider the consequences.

In an ever-changing world, the UK having its own tech infrastructure is crucial. We do not want to be reliant on other countries. With the right planning they can be powered with clean nuclear power. But we need skilled union workers to build the data centres.

BREAKING 🚨: Belfast airbus workers start strike action ballot 🪧 Over 90% of workers rejected the pay offer - at a site of almost 1600 staff 🙅‍♂️

BREAKING 🚨: Thanet bin workers begin industrial action ballot over management failures 👏 Over 50 Thanet refuse collectors say they have had enough of councillors’ excuses over the state of the district 🚮

BREAKING 🚨: North Somerset bin workers vote for strike action 👏👏 Over 100 workers backed action over pay - with workers in neighbouring areas earning £4ph more 🙅‍♂️

Asda's move to outsource its cleaning staff is wrong. 3500 people are now worried about their livelihoods. Outsourcing has a track record of slashing pay, conditions - and even jobs. This is no way to treat your loyal staff Asda.

Just 14% of England's waterways are in good health. 14%. It's a badge of national shame - and privatised water companies must take a massive chunk of the blame. They’ve been allowed to pump sewage into our rivers, as massive dividends take priority over infrastructure.

Self-driving robotaxis in London are a worrying development. How will drivers be supported to reskill if their jobs go? How will public safety be impacted? Who is liable for accidents? What implications are there for disabled passengers? We urge TfL to proceed with caution.
