Today, the Board of Supervisors approved my motion to expand health and social services for immigrant families, which includes increasing access to telehealth services, food deliveries, and more. We cannot let fear prevent people from getting the health care or support they need.

We will stand together and continue to call for an end to these unlawful raids. If you or someone you know has been impacted by the raids, please contact our Office of Immigrant Affairs at 1-800-593-8222 or dial 2-1-1 to be connected to resources.

Today, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved my motion with Supervisor Horvath directing LA County to explore potential legal action against unconstitutional immigration enforcement practices, including illegal search and seizure in violation of the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

This morning, my office received reports of immigration enforcement activity in Boyle Heights involving a deeply disturbing incident: two unmarked vehicles, believed to be operated by ICE agents, crashed into a civilian car with two children inside.

Over the past 24 hours, numerous reports have emerged of ICE activity across Los Angeles County. In response, many in our community, including advocacy groups and concerned residents, have exercised their First Amendment rights to protest peacefully and speak out against these actions.

Today's immigration sweeps across the First District in downtown Los Angeles, Westlake, and Cypress Park are deeply disturbing. The individuals detained are hardworking Angelenos who contribute to our local economy and labor force every day.

Me uno a millones de personas en el condado de Los Ángeles y en todo el mundo al lamentar el fallecimiento del Papa Francis. Como primer Papa latinoamericano, aportó una perspectiva fresca y profundamente humana a la Iglesia católica y al mundo.

I join millions across Los Angeles County and around the globe in mourning the passing of Pope Francis. As the first pope from Latin America, he brought a fresh and deeply human perspective to the Catholic Church and to the world.

Over the past few months, the federal policy changes on immigration have instilled a deep, chilling fear among immigrant communities, including here in Los Angeles County, with K-12 schools reporting declines in school attendance, due to fear of immigration enforcement actions.

Today, I met with 501CTHREE to present a $330k investment for nine Water Boxes in the First District. These Water Boxes, such as the one located at Clinica Romero, will provide fresh, cool water that is free and easily accessible to community members.
