Back to lovely English teaching after a three year break… I did remember how to teach! Previously AHT T&L. Now an irritatingly enthusiastic Second in English in an awesome school in Sheffield. Mum to a wonderful little nutcase. Hiya! ✨

Really looking forward to reading this - I’m so invested in making my new role back in school work for who I am at home too. It’s so important to be able to be ‘work me’ too, and I wish that we could build more flexibility and understanding into delivering school roles that work with family life…

Thrilled to be working with the edu-legend that is @hugheshaili.bsky.social on a new book on teacher retention - titled ‘Love The One You’re With: Why Teachers Stay and What We Can Learn From Them’. We’re currently interviewing teachers of 20+ years - get in touch if you’d like to be involved!

This book is having a hugely positive impact on my confidence and SK while I’m preparing to teach ACC (weirdly for the first time) with my new Y10s in Sept! Love boosting my knowledge with Lit Crit and this is such an easy to digest way of achieving much wider knowledge about a text ✨

#TeamEnglish I am a bit obsessed with critical theory and recently wrote a book on using it to teach A Christmas Carol (Jekyll and Hyde on the way!) Here is a giant thread of critical theory resources you can use with students:

Do you want to come and work with me and lead Initial Teacher Education in a brilliant programme for Religious Education or Business? OK, so the working with me bit might not be the best advert – but let me tell you about the job and the team and why you might love this as your next role!
