At DHPRlab, we study human performance in sports (@uni-hamburg.de) using psychology, neuroscience & physiology. PI: @wanjawolff.bsky.social. Account managed by: @senaozayotgonbayar.bsky.social.

Effort research is booming 🚀 This has generated a wide range of effort conceptualizations & a plethora of measures are used to study it. Don't panic. Lukas' Hitchhiker's Guide to physical and cognitive effort research is here to help & now out in Sports Medicine 🙌 Check out his post for more ⬇️

Our "Hitchhiker's Guide to Physical And Cognitive Effort" is now published in Sports Medicine🎉 Interested in the utility of effort definitions and proxies across domains, check the link ⬇️ link.springer.com/article/10.1... Huge Kudos to @wanjawolff.bsky.social & @israelhalperin.bsky.social 🙏

This is a bit of a deviation from my usual effort & boredom research: with Johannes Keyser and @sgluth.bsky.social I have been working on a passion project on what makes a lab good, flexible, and future-proof. Not about AI or stats, but the physical hardware and how devices talk to each other 🤩 🧵

Yesterday, we got together for our 3rd DHPRL Garden Party to celebrate another great semester.🌿☀️ A huge thank you to all our colleagues and guests who joined us. We were enjoying ourselves so much that we completely forgot to take a group photo... 🥲 Already looking forward to the next one! 🤩

Effort ≠ performance 🎯 At the Integrating Effort symposium @ASP, I showed that perceived effort maps non-linearly onto performance. Equal increases in prescribed effort produce disproportionately large increases in performance, likely because of compressed number representation and motor noise 🔢💪

I really enjoyed presenting preliminary findings from our study on the effects of concurrent physical effort on explore-exploit behavior at this year's asp conference in Heidelberg 🚴🏀 Already looking forward to next year 🙃

I had such a great time on this episode! 🤩 I really enjoyed taking the explore-exploit trade-off beyond theory and discussing its relevance for athletes, coaches, and performance in real sport settings. 🏀🏌️‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Thanks so much for having me @danabrahamspsych.bsky.social

New episode of The Sport Psych Show! On this week's episode "Exploit or Explore: Decision Making in Sport" I speak with University of Hamburg PhD student Katja Rewitz. Katja's research focuses on human sensations and their influence on decision-making and performance behaviour

New #DHPRLab preprint by @katjarewitz.bsky.social together with @wanjawolff.bsky.social and @mbieleke.bsky.social 🙌🏼 Check out Katja’s post below, in case you're interested! ⬇️

New preprint 📢 w/ @wanjawolff.bsky.social & @mbieleke.bsky.social we tracked boredom during a cycling task. Perceived effort generally increased over time – boredom didn't. Boredom varied strongly across individuals, and its dynamics predicted persistence beyond effort 📖 osf.io/preprints/ps...
