PhD Student at University of Hamburg (@uni-hamburg.de) | DHPRL(@dhprlab.bsky.social) Interested in the dynamics of effort and its role in human behavioural regulation. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Lukas-Hack-2

Effort ≠ performance 🎯 At the Integrating Effort symposium @ASP, I showed that perceived effort maps non-linearly onto performance. Equal increases in prescribed effort produce disproportionately large increases in performance, likely because of compressed number representation and motor noise 🔢💪

I had such a great time on this episode! 🤩 I really enjoyed taking the explore-exploit trade-off beyond theory and discussing its relevance for athletes, coaches, and performance in real sport settings. 🏀🏌️‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Thanks so much for having me @danabrahamspsych.bsky.social

New episode of The Sport Psych Show! On this week's episode "Exploit or Explore: Decision Making in Sport" I speak with University of Hamburg PhD student Katja Rewitz. Katja's research focuses on human sensations and their influence on decision-making and performance behaviour

📺 A TV team from NDR visited our @dhprlab.bsky.social to learn about our current research & why boredom plays a powerful role in human behavior. You can spend three (German, but hopefully not boring) minutes watching it here: www.ndr.de/fernsehen/se... P.S. Thumbnail is not footage from our lab 😁

Die Kraft der Langeweile: Warum Nichtstun uns voranbringt

Psychologe Prof. Wanja Wolff von der Uni Hamburg erklärt, warum Langeweile wie Schmerz wirkt: ein Signal, Kurs zu ändern.

Truly enjoyed this talk held by Dr. Johannes Seiler 🎉 Interesting to discuss boredom as a signal that feels aversive but also secures us from stagnation 🙌🏼 Thanks for taking your time 👍🏼

Great pleasure to host Dr. Johannes Seiler in our #DHPRLab meeting! He gave a fascinating talk on how boredom drives exploration and information-seeking, and how neural entropy underlies this process across species. Thank you for sharing your time and insights 🙏

📣 #moeffortmoproblems “Just try harder and the success will follow” does does not always apply. Check out our latest preprint to learn more about this effort performance (de)coupling across domains and contexts 😎

#preprint 📢 Effort usually boosts performance - but not always. We discuss 4 domain-general factors that modulate effort-performance (de)coupling: osf.io/preprints/ps... TL;DR: A framework on when and why effort-performance links appear to change across domains, timescales & measures. 🧵

Exciting milestone, my first PhD preprint is out! 🎉 Together w/ @israelhalperin.bsky.social & @wanjawolff.bsky.social, we put together A Hitchhiker’s Guide to Effort 🪐 If you’ve ever asked “what is effort, and how to measure it?”, this one's for you 😎 🚀 read it here: osf.io/preprints/ps...

Friends don't let friends sit through 1000 trials to test the task works*.... Did you know you can simulate responses in PsychoPy? Install the PsychoPy "Monkeys" plugin and have a play! *Actually this is exactly what friends do 😅 - looking at you psychophysics people...

Curious how #sports research can benefit from formal models of the explore–exploit dilemma & and how fundamental explore-exploit reseach can learn from studying decisions in sports? Check out the new preprint by our brilliant PhD @dhprlab.bsky.social student @katjarewitz.bsky.social! ⚽🧠

Katja Rewitz@katjarewitz.bsky.social · last yr.

🎉 First preprint from my PhD! #excited We suggest that sport & exercise psych should adopt formal decision models to study how high-stakes contexts and self-regulatory demands shape the explore-exploit trade-off. w/ @nicoschuck.bsky.social @wanjawolff.bsky.social dx.doi.org/10.31234/osf...
