This mural suggests a historic furniture industry, which after looking it up is quite significant. The GR public library purportedly holds one of the world’s premier furniture design collections, having started with the acquisition of the entire 1904 world’s fair furniture exposition. Who knew?
If you don’t give people an answer they’ll make one up for you. Controlling the narrative shouldn’t be disregarded as trivial, it’s strategically important. The gap between truth and ambiguity is where malign entities place their wedges.
It’s 1:45AM, I’ve just checked in to the hotel and all I want is a bed. So imagine I open the door, flick the light on and here’s this massive room, I just want to sleep man. Oh what a curious journey life is.
Your day could always be worse. 1am Sunday night somewhere in Tx. (Not me)
*Dominguez Canyon on the Uncompaghre Plateau*. Imagine a cold winter night down there under a full moon, gives me goosebumps
“Young”? Like her or Baron I’m sure she can offer helpful tips such as how to clean l dried ketchup from faux gold, writing thank you notes for bribes and elegant toilet side storage for classified documents. You know, normal mom stuff.
Fox Business host Taylor Riggs gushes to Melania Trump that she is "such an inspiration to young moms" who are "trying to organize state dinners" In response, Melania admits that "family time is suffering" these days for her and there is "less and less" of it
Excellent view of St. Helens this morning, different flight path than I’m used to.
Incredible that in grad school just 5 years ago I only had to deal with a plagiarism detector that would flag properly cited sections. It is only to the detriment of education to forgo the didactic value of long-form essays and papers. Writing is an essential professional skill to develop.
I only fly with carry on luggage if it can be helped. Do we think TSA will have problem with a take apart Theracane? SEATAC never gave me a problem with my safety razor but Austin TSA said no-go, so now I have to use disposable trash. The Europeans let me fly with a Swiss Army knife! 🤷♂️
I enjoy taking notes by hand and diagramming for memorization and thought organization. Said notes are difficult to index and I often have to digitally duplicate them for documentation and sharing. I haven’t been impressed with the digital notebooks I’ve found though, recommendations (or not)?
Handwriting activates a broader network of cognitive brain regions compared to typing. Time to bring back cursive and handwritten exams. Source: www.mdpi.com/2075-1729/15...
A hazard of peninsula life is one bad accident can cut off the path to civilization. Clear, sunny, mid day wreck (🙄) shutdown 104, missed my flight by 10 minutes. Choice was 11:50pm flight and a night at MSP or 7AM direct. Chose the latter and the bedbug motel. Not sure I chose wisely, bad day.
The energy in the alpine this time of year is one of looming winter, the knowledge your tracks may be the last before snow closes the roads. Lovely hike, some fungi, a crop of Hydnum (edible hedgehogs), and a dingus flying a drone. Dingus sped past us twenty minutes prior reeking of clutch.
Our Bears are back!! I’m very happy to have them back home again.
Told ya
‘The cost to transport produce out of California is up 40% to 120% from a year ago. Independent truckers, who typically pay for fuel up front, may not be able to withstand further hikes. "We're about to see diesel price-driven bankruptcies" of trucking firms.’ www.reuters.com/business/ene...
It’s not going to be a popular position, but perhaps agriculture in places that don’t have water isn’t a smart or sustainable path forward. We’ve sucked the life out rivers across the west to grow crops and raise cattle where they don’t belong. There are more water efficient animals than cows.
Texas needs water. But our farmers and ranchers cannot be the test case for somebody else’s wastewater. Before treated oilfield wastewater is used on Texas farmland, we deserve answers about what’s in it, who’s responsible, and who pays if something goes wrong.
Destroys everything he touches, what a parasite
First and only night back in my apartment in over a month. Happy to finally be able to pickup another couple shirts for the rotation. It’s nice to hear horses and owls again. Funny, I see more cowboy lifestyle in WA than TX which seems to be ‘all hat and no horse’ as they say. Lotta hats.
Who in a sober mind pays $2,200 hard earned inflation dollars for BCGs? (Birth Control Glasses)
Little known fact: the PA farmers market matches SNAP funds providing a crucial lifeline during a time when craven politicians have seen fit to make a sport of piling hardships on those that can least afford them. This is community supporting community where the system has failed.
How many farmers markets are so committed to food access and offer a $ for $ unlimited Snap market match AND $5 protein vouchers for every $10 on SNAP? Vote for this sweet and generous market so they can raise money to continue funding their market match. Vote: markets.farmland.org/markets/313411
Oh guy, I can only hope you get treated worse than we treat law abiding migrants. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Time for some positive news …
When I was a kid we always kept maps in the glovebox of the family truckster (Cherokee). On road trips whenever we crossed state lines we’d stop at the first rest stop where you could pickup a state map. When I got my first car I started doing the same.
