Fun fact: Dr. Minovsky, the scientist responsible for revolutionizing warfare during the Universal Century, was almost named 'Tominovsky' as a nod to Mobile Suit Gundam's (1979-80) creator.

Me and Emily both went through the truly dire Chiaki Konaka-penned GR: Giant Robo as a part of our homework for this one. It's mostly just especially dull and rather poorly assembled, but we refer to the two standout moments from the 12th episode on this BFF and feel they're worth worth sharing.

Screenshot from the anime GR: Giant Robo (2007), depicting a white haired man in a white suit, faux interlacing on the screen as he is seated in front of a screen broadcasting a giant robot fight.

Subtitles read: I'm Johnny Sokko, the head of new at BFN.

Note: Johnny Sokko refers to the Americanized title of the 1967 Giant Robo tokusatsu, renamed Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot.Screenshot from the anime GR: Giant Robo (2007), depicting the World Trade Center ablaze during the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Johnny Sokko is speaking over this image, and subtitles for his dialogue read: The ancient gods predicted this corrupt civilization would bring harm to living beings.
