Trump is not only failing to make peace in Ukraine but also emboldening Russia by being unwilling to put pressure on Putin. My piece in @politico.eu. www.politico.eu/article/dona...
Trump is failing Ukraine — that will only change if he gets tough on Putin
If the U.S. president is serious about a ceasefire, escalatory measures may well be the only way to make it happen.

A swift establishment of the proposed Special International Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression is key to lock in and protect accountability efforts in Ukraine: www.politico.eu/article/esta.... @sceeus-ui.bsky.social @wesslau.bsky.social
Establish an international tribunal for aggression against Ukraine before it’s too late
The special tribunal would be a powerful signal to strongmen everywhere that international justice can find ways to hold leaders accountable — no matter who they are.

The tiny former Soviet republic’s determination not to be cowed by the Kremlin could provide a template for the west on how to hold back the tide of subversion and corruption

I don't often share the (too) many analyses of Ukraine/Russia developments in 2015. But this one is a must-read, by the excellent @wesslau.bsky.social, a seasoned diplomat and very acute observer of Ukraine, when we talk about security and conflict resolution foreignpolicy.com/2024/11/27/t...

My take on the limits of a deal between Trump and Putin on Ukraine in @ForeignPolicy. A deal may not happen. Even if it does, without Europe and Ukraine on board, it may not mean much. Real risk is Putin stringing along Trump to undermine West’s support. foreignpolicy.com/2024/11/27/t...
