Professor of literacy studies at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania, studying digital literacies, youth media, & writing; lover of beaches & dystopian fiction (vs real dystopias); triple scorpio; she/hers

A3: #literacies chats have opened me up to new scholarship in ways I did not anticipate. I am more of a lurker on social media, but reading those chats, even later, always led me to more scholarship that expanded my thinking. I appreciated the intentionality of the hosts in bringing people together

I wanted to share the good news that I've been promoted to full professor and am beginning a year's sabbatical with a heavenly women's writing retreat in Amorgos. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way! You all made it possible.

Hey, I'm going to do this, and I hope you will too. Not because I think a one day pause will be a devastating blow, but because coordinated action takes practice, and if you don't do the small stuff, you will have a harder time gearing up for the big stuff.

"Economic Blackout on February 28, 2025 Take Part & Share the News
If you haven't heard there will be an economic blackout Feb 28th, nationwide. This means don't buy anything unless it's from a small business: No gas, no fast food, and definitely nothing from places like Target, Walmart, or Amazon. Get the word out! We want THEM to see that WE have the power. We will start with 1 day, then 3, then specific companies until our message is heart. Please spread the word! Thank you!"
