The Panthers used the 2023 3rd round pick (93) and 4th round pick (132) they received from San Francisco in the Christian McCaffrey trade to move up with Pittsburgh to draft DJ Johnson. The GM who made both those moves is long gone and so now is Johnson.

Following today's loss in New England, Dave Canales has a record of 6-15 as the Panthers head coach. Looking back at those losses, I'd say that nine of them were non-competitive. In those 15 losses, the Panthers average margin of defeat is 18.2.

Talked a lot about Moehrig coming to Carolina to fill one of the spots at safety. The Panthers are checking all of the defensive boxes with Horn extended, Moehrig now aboard and still TBD but close with Milton Williams.

BREAKING: The #Panthers are expected to sign former #Raiders star safety Tre'von Moehrig to a 3-year, $51M contract, sources tell @NFLonFOX. Moehrig started 64 games during his four years in Las Vegas and was one of the most coveted safeties on the market. A big addition.

The Panthers have made it a habit to trade away homegrown players in recent years -- Christian McCaffrey, DJ Moore, Brian Burns -- but since deciding to ship off Burns they've paid Derrick Brown and Jaycee Horn as cornerstone players on defense. A positive trend in the other direction.
