When it came to the art for GHOSTBOY and the MONSTER OF HAUNTED HILL, these were the primary influences I had in mind. Much like a lot of my stuff, I really went all out on creating texture and mood.

The cover for the French comic Petit Vampire ("Little Vampire") Book 4 (by Joann Sfar). A vampire woman with blue hair reads a book to wee vampire, his human friend, a liitle bat and a bunch of other creatures. A pirate skeleton reads another book in the background. There are ghosts EVERYWHERE.The cover of book 7 for The Collection by Hideshi Hino. It features a bulging, bloodshot-eyed man in a green jacket standing in front of pink, green, yellow, purple, and blue panels, which, inside, are drawings of scary, grotesque creatures. The cover to Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Stephen Gammell. It features a creepy skull face coming out of the ground with smeary clown makeup, smoking a pipe. There is a decaying barn and cemetery in the background.
