Occupational Therapist, DBT therapist, MSc in Personality Disorder. Working privately to help people and NHS organisations avoid years in private hospitals that claim to be specialist. No one should be told their personality is disordered.

This has been on my mind a lot to day. I hear “duty of care” being used as a justification for interventions that are demonstrably more harmful than not doing them, but the pressure to DO SOMETHING is so powerful it often overrides our conscience, ethics and morals. #bigspd26

As over 200 patients are shipped out of St Andrews Hospital I want to thank Private Eye and Phil Hammond for shining light on the inadequacies of of private locked rehab placements and the fear in the nhs that drives their use.

Survivors of abuse were sent here to keep them safe. What other locked rehab warehouse will they be sent to next? We will not build effective community services while we spend £350,000 per person per year on endless admissions to inadequate “specialist” inpatient units.

Looking out over Blackpool while at the British and Irish Group for the Stufy of Personality Disorder annual residential meeting. Planning next years conference & blending who we want to speak with what themes we want and who could spark a debate around them. What should we focus on? #BIGSPD26
