We are delighted to share the news that the latest new VCH project is live. We have published only one volume for #Devon to date, and now Professor Nicholas Orme has begun the process of developing text on the county's medieval religious houses. The first drafts are now available. #Skystorians 1/3

Devon volume II - The Medieval Church and Religious Houses to 1550

When completed, the Victoria County History of Devon, volume II will provide detailed accounts of the medieval church in Devon and the religious houses of the county.

Although it's a bit toasty, Dantean (other adjectives are available), drinking water can be found in the ground floor common room and, as some have discovered, the basement reading room remains cool. Also if anyone wants some cool reading, you can find works in polar history within our collections.

This Women's History Month and International Women's Day we're highlighting one of the most important women in the IHR's own history - Eliza Jeffries Davis. Jeffries Davis was a historian (and librarian!) who played a pivotal role in the founding of the IHR.

It's new books time again. You can view a selection of newly acquired items on the 1st and 2nd floors including a selection of sources, reference works and historiography titles ranging from the medieval to the contemporary.
