Congratulations to our researchers recognised at the UCC Research & Innovation Awards last night. Yensi Flores Bueso received the Global Engagement Research Award. Laia Raigal, Antonia Virovska, Katarina Medved & Sasna Thomas were awarded joint winners of the Engaged Research of the Year Award.

We were honoured to receive a donation from Currow GAA Club in support of UCC Cancer Trials Group at CUH in remembrance of Aileen O’Shea. A heartfelt thank you to Currow GAA and the O’Shea family for their generosity. All funds will directly support advancing cancer research.

The fourth lecture in this year's UCC CSS is presented by Prof Eduardo Bruera, Professor of Medicine, Department of Palliative, Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine, MD Anderson Cancer Center. Chaired by Fiona Kiely, Doctor at Palliative medicine at Marymount University Hospital & Hospice.

In October Emer Lynch joined the OECI Residential Grant Writing Workshop in Warsaw, a 3 day event focused on empowering early-career oncology researchers to advance their projects. Emer is our Breakthrough Cancer research Fellow supporting clinical research at CUH & Cancer Research @UCC.

Prof Mark Tangney will lead on the OncoBioMaps Ireland work package of POI-2, building a national platform for biological mapping of cancer patients with microbiome as the common marker. After completing MSc research alongside her role in the BCNI Biobank, Cliodhna Nolan begins a full-time PhD this week. She will continue to focus on cell-free DNA in high-grade non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma to help improve patient monitoring & treatment. Good luck Cliodhna!
