Its sister has made for it a snappy silken bow. Hanging and large enough to take up a sizable amount of its torso starting from its collar, dyed a deep abyssal green, just as it likes. Days ago she had helped fasten it in place with its permission, and the vessel has yet to remove it.
[ Hallow ]
@hallowed-hollow.bsky.social
a tragedy born of desperation. a story already told, begun anew. [ #HKRP / #MVRP / post Delicate Flower ending ] [ Counterpart to @bellhearted. ]
Ten days later, and it has done nothing but scare its sister half to death, found collapsed in a heap in the entryway of its bellhome. Ten days, with no movement but the slow drip of void from its limp joints and empty eye sockets. Ten days, and it can be mistaken as a crime scene, a new tragedy.
Maintaining a solid body is for normal bugs. It is not a normal bug. No better than a half-remembered nightmare, a melting frame dripping void from its joints will do for now.
And then you realise that none of these things are for you.
Sleeping more, lately. The rocking chair made specially for it has done well to lull it to sleep more often than not.
Slowly picking its way through a small cluster of possibly the most crisp, sweet grapes it has ever been given. It would be irritated, if it could be, if only for the fact it can’t finish them all in one sitting.
There are beaches lined with blue bioluminescent algae, somewhere out there. It will find those too, like the caverns lined with illuminated blue crystals, the forests dotted with shining blue bugs, the fields coated in glowing blue flowers. Maybe some day.
As it sits on the steps of its should-be home, handing the Round Bug tiny bits of fruit, it wonders why it was allowed to starve. Why, living in abundance, in palace and pauldrons, its pain was not placated with extra portions. It cannot even begin to fathom the depth of questions behind this.
The tiny Far Fields bug has not left its side in days. The vessel, thinking this fern-antennaed creature needed only sustenance and temporary shelter, had fed it, let it stay in its too-empty bellhome, and expected it to leave of its own accord once recovered from its presumed ordeal.
Some tiny creature of the Far Fields has taken a shine to it enough to follow it home. Defended on impulse by the vessel from being hunted by red-shelled bugs, the little round thing has been trailing after it like a duckling ever since.
Imagine tumbling into a hole beneath Greymoor. Couldn’t be this vessel. Good thing it doesn’t have the capacity to be embarrassed. Just walk it off.
Permission given to wander to them or no, it has little concept of what “other worlds” even means. And for a vessel given freedom, it is an expert only in shackling itself; as much a force of nature going wherever it might as it is a creature of habit, inclined to stay close to “home”.
For a self-proclaimed wanderer, it is not one to wander much. Even in possession of means to travel great distances, visit other worlds, scarcely does it leave the borders of the kingdoms it (barely) knows. A poor adventurer does it make, anyway.
// Replies here will likely come tomorrow once I get certain life/health things back in order. For now and in general, you can find me more active over on @branching-paths.bsky.social 🙏
// Okay I know it's pretty quiet around here lately but I'm gonna do an interest check anyway An account for a major AU Hollow who's a lot more average-bug in characterisation than an introspection case like this guy: Yes or No?
// For a person who specialises in heavy or angsty plots I have like -50 willpower when it comes to keeping this bug from getting nice things. If I’ve joked about it even once there’s a 90% chance I’ll eventually cave and devise a way to give it something comforting
// I've played both games enough times now and by extension picked through their respective dialogues to slowly come to terms with the implication Hallownest fell, at minimum, multiple centuries ago. And honestly the implications of what that means for Hollow has been haunting me a lot lately
...... ...... It happens in an instant. Light. Thought. Memories--few in number as they are.
No cost too great. No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.
// The amount of Deep Lore™️I have about this bug and how it functions is frankly embarrassing. This is what happens when you leave everything up to interpretation, TC, people like me do their own extensive worldbuilding and run away into the sunset with it like a loon
// Bsky please let us add pictures to DMs already I need to send my friends dumb memes about my bug
// (Holding this up like a badge of honour) From the very first time I encountered Hollow in-game it was like seeing a friend I've known my whole life, and now it's my life goal to get everyone to care about and be nice to it too
((OH! NOPE! I AM LACE @mortalfibre.bsky.social AND JOINED BUGSKY BECAUSE OF HALLOW-MUN GETTING ME INTO THE SERIES. It's such a lovely thread!! I'm having so much fun seeing someone be so kind to Hallow!! I LOVE THAT BUG! And I've watched Solas and Lep some, though the QRP style of RP made it++
// "little changes", I said, and then proceeded to spend a collective seven hours overhauling literally everything but the history section
// Muse and account details in carrd:
// I gotta update this guy's carrd, lots of little things I need to refine and add since since starting here
@sunsetsol.bsky.social Years spent in a gilded cage, then yet more years spent asleep in chains, have left it ill-equipped to navigate the world outside, let alone one unfamiliar to it. Knight training and void instinct and a century left to wander a dead kingdom can only take it so far.
