Over a forty-year career, Norwegian Nobel Laureate Jon Fosse has produced an estimated eighty works, spanning plays, essays, poetry, children’s books and novels. He writes in Nynorsk, the minority Norwegian language, and proudly so. Since winning the Nobel Prize in Literature two years ago he has already written two new plays and published a new novel, Vaim, translated by Damion Searls. It is the first of three related novels, all set in the fictional town of the title. Fosse might be famous for his slow prose, but he clearly writes quickly.
