Twitch and Amazon are apparently planning to use streams to train Generative AI. Multiple sources tell me it will be announced in the coming months, despite some internal friction against it. Creators may be able to opt out of some training data.

Based on the recent discussion regarding GenAI utilization during the development of ShinyDex, I have decided to part ways with the Ambassador program. While there is no ethical consumption under capitalism - GenAI is inherently linked to capitalism - and it's almost impossible to avoid GenAI entirely, I believe in a harm reduction approach to the matter - I avoid endorsing/paying for products that utilize GenAI in any form and I advocate against the use of GenAI. This is a decision I am making based on my core beliefs. I believe anything that is worth creating is worth the time to create without the use of GenAI. I also believe everyone has the right to make their own informed decisions based on the knowledge available. Use your brain, get creative, and stick to your core values.

I cannot represent the site upon learning the GenAI code usage. Although I wasn't aware of this information until recently, I'd still like to apologize for those that I influenced to join the website or spend money on it. I've put months of my time cataloging every one of my 1600+ shinies in detail. I've had nothing but absolute passion and love for ShinyDex for well over a year and half now. In short, this sucks and I'm feeling very heartbroken. I'll be taking the next few days to give my brain time to feel the emotions <3

Do not harass/attack Ben or any of the other Ambassadors or users regardless of their own choices on this matter. A witch hunt does nothing, there are human beings on every side of your screen. Please be civil, kind, and respectful."

I'm sure some of you have been made aware of the ShinyDex already but for those who haven't, it was confirmed that ShinyDex used Gen AI in the coding process.

As a result of this, I will be stepping away from the ambassador program and will no longer be endorsing ShinyDex.

I do not stand for ANY use of Gen AI in any way shape or form. I never have and I never will. I stand by that. I would not have been associated with the site had I, or any of the ambassadors, known that this was the case beforehand. I am deeply saddened and disappointed to be writing this right now, but I cannot continue to move forward with a program that directly goes against my morals and what I stand for.

I would also like to make it clear: please do not attack Ben, or anybody who is associated with ShinyDex. There are a lot of people behind this project who poured their heart and soul into it and were not previously aware about any use of generative AI. Please allow some time & grace for those involved while more statements come out.
