I think this opinion is wrong on every level and I say this as someone who does political organizing locally If we have a low stakes happy hour, we can get a ton of new people to show up. If we advertise a canvassing or outreach event, it’s like pulling teeth

Literally what is with this rise of "actually the local Dem party should fulfill all my social needs" takes I am not doing movie night with Dems. I am not joining a Dem volunteer soccer league. I am not joining Democratic speed dating. Stop using politics as secular church!!!!

Fifteen years after the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” we can see a legacy that was harder to recognize in 2011. Repeal did more than allow LGBTQ Americans to serve openly. It created a generation of LGBTQ veterans carrying their service into civic life.

I keep having the same weird dream this week: me & a redhead guy named Paul have to save the world and 2 little blonde kids from a climate apocalypse that somehow involves a wood chips flood that covers a city?? The kids can predict the future as well, which is helpful. It's very bizarre.

I feel my "WWI in west asia special interest/obsession" returning. The itch is increasing. The noise is getting louder. Must. Indulge. So if you have any recommended reading, feel free to spam me with it. Or DM me, if you prefer. I'm open to emails for pdfs as well.

Some not-so small steps happening this week to support Oldest as they ready to step out on their own & look towards tech programs for next fall. All the mom-feels as I'm excited, nervous, & happy for them. There's still months before they go, but the countdown feels real now. 18 yrs goes by fast!

I know I should've left early, run my 4 errands, & returned home before the oppressive heat of the afternoon. Instead I baked chocolate chip banana bread & drank coffee in the silence of 2 teens sleeping late. Trying to convince myself today's the "last hot day of summer" so I can grin/bear it one

After 2.5 very very hot days up north, it feels so good to walk into our cool flat, drop bags, and collapse on the couch. Both kids have disappeared into their rooms. The place is quiet and still. It's lovely.

I really hope the kids and I dont get whatever crud my mom is now coughing/sniffling with. 😭 It's got increasingly worse all day today. Found her a pharmacy today that was able to give meds. Fingers crossed.

Watched a woman my age (clearly solo traveling) ask the waiter for the best seat at a riverfront restaurant, then order a bottle of wine, appetizer, main meal, dessert, coffee. No phone in sight. She just sat enjoying the view and her meal. An absolute goddess.

One of the teens has hurt themselves this morning, slipped on a rug in our room, twisting an ankle pretty hard. Mom's dismissive/peeved bc it may upset plans for sightseeing today. Thinks it's manipulation. It's bringing up LOTS of childhood memories/feelings for me as I try to help my kid. 😭

The only reason I learned about the Diaries was because we had a strict rule that we'd never ever order them for folks at the bookstore I used to work at. It was awesome denying the occasional customer when they asked.

Post nicht verfügbar.

Trying to keep my youngest (a POTs kid) healthy during the hot weather while trying to keep my mom happy with enough tourism/walking around in this boiling city is trying every last bit of mental bandwidth I've got this afternoon. 😭 Send icy thoughts.
