just had a flashback to approximately 2004 when digital photography bloggers discovered unsharp mask. those images felt so intensely detailed. i didn't have that feeling until i saw a retina display 5 years later, then HDR displays 10 years after that.

i'm vibecoding a 3d model that is generative but needs to meet certain topological requirements. i was having trouble asking for what i wanted, so i asked for a face selector and copied IDs to the clipboard. i pasted the IDs with a request ("merge faces like this"), now it works

imagine twitter, but there's a bot is crawling all the tweets and when people post "add an edit button", the bot implements it. what would a fully crowdsourced social media platform look like? and what constraints would keep it from breaking apart?

after 2.5 years of vibe coding, my biggest takeaway? native apps are dead. iterating for the web is so much faster, has better tooling, and lower overhead. low-latency, multi-projector, 3d, spatial audio, custom hardware—ai will continue to have trouble with these.

has anyone written about AI-assisted vibe coding? the loss of the flow state, the move away from mental modeling of computational processes, managerialization of the developer class, etc? it feels like a bellweather, but i’ve had trouble explaining to non-programmers.
