Fungal diseases are diverse, and so is the research needed to tackle them. Researchers across the MRC CMM, #FAILSAFE, CMM AFRICA and CMM LATAM network are working together to improve outcomes for people affected by fungal diseases worldwide. #ThinkFungus26

Antifungal medicines save lives, but some fungi are becoming resistant to them. At MRC CMM, researchers are investigating drug-resistant fungi like Candida auris, identifying potential new treatment targets and driving global action on antifungal resistance. #ThinkFungus26

Fungal infections can look a lot like bacterial or viral illnesses, making them difficult to diagnose. Delays in diagnosis can lead to serious illness. Researchers at the MRC CMM and across the globe are improving fungal diagnostics and treatments. #ThinkFungus26

From old-school to cutting-edge! We still count some fungal colonies by hand, but specialised software can now automatically identify and analyse individual living fungal cells, measuring their size, shape and DNA content. Together, these methods help us understand how fungi grow and respond. 🍄
