We do not build strategic food reserves needed to maintain provision in hard times. We failed to build effective stores of PPE, to protect us in pandemics. This country has long been governed by people who do not prepare.

I live rural, in the mountains, almost off-grid. I want the diesel I bought used to be my last ICE vehicle. Only two problems: - rural folks with animals and crops need to tow 1,000kg trailers for decent distances - No one out here is buying a truck that costs as much as a house Where is my EV?

Does anyone know the historical reason why some countries print book titles ascending on spines? I'm aware that descending titles are older, based on flat shelving, and the ISO standard, but I've never seen anything but opinion on why ascending titles exist. #booksky
I have only found one real drawback to eBooks: it is wildly difficult to peruse my TBR pile in an accidental, vaguely chagrined way when it's tucked away on a hard drive. Thus it grows exponentially without shame, whereas my physical pile is kept to a certain level by guilt alone. #booksky
It's kind of interesting that almost all of the reader content on bsky is fiction focused. One would think from skimming here that no one has ever read a nonfiction book. #booksky
