It’s time for my highlights of the week!👏😊
Margaret Mullane MP
@margaretmullanemp.bsky.social
Labour Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham. @Margaret4DR - X @margaret4dr - Instagram https://www.margaretmullane.co.uk/ People resist by telling their story- Bell Hooks
My article in the Summer 2026 @thefabians.bsky.social Review. I set out some of the barriers which hold back working class people from becoming MPs, and outline how Labour can empower more working-class people on a path to Parliament. 👇

Good to meet with the London Mayor Sadiq Khan last night. Lots discussed. Launders Lane, Queen Mary University work on Launders Lane, Beam Park train station, the Superloop bus update in Rainham and the Dagenham East step free access update. I will keep everyone posted as always.
Watching Laura Kuenssberg , and Robert Jenrick had said the Times newspaper, is a Labour supporting paper. 😂😂. No challenge !
Data centres are fast becoming the new landfill and can’t be the only offer for working class communities. My article in @LabourHome_ 👇

Great to visit Barking Market last week where children from Dagenham & Rainham schools were selling produce they had grown themselves as part of the @schoolfoodmatters.bsky.social young marketeers programme. Lots of buzz, and great to see. #FoodEducation is so important! 🌱🍎
I am so sad to hear Hollie Ridley will be resigning, Hollie was made in Dagenham. Has been an inspiration to so many in the Labour Party. A great friend to Dagenham and Rainham. Hollie understands working class communities. The need to deliver, lead by Hollie with driving on the Labour win in 2024.
Last week I held a parliamentary drop-in to raise awareness of Pica. This is just the start of my work on this, with many actions to come in support of families across Dagenham & Rainham and beyond. Thanks to the MPs who stopped by to hear from my constituents.
A couple of weeks ago @dailymail.co.uk asked for a comment on the ‘Rainham Volcano’ but only covered the interventions from a Tory MP and the Reform council. I guess my quote didn’t fit their narrative. Here’s the article (behind a paywall): dailymail.com/news/article... Here’s what I said. 👇
Settling down just had an ice cream and a cup of tea. Upstairs Downstairs on Netflix. How the Tories and Reform would have our lives planned out if in power.
So proud to be at the armed forces parade on Saturday. We owe our armed forces so much. I am pictured with Councillor Stanton from Beam Park Ward. The other photograph is Dave Ainsworth a veteran. Thank you from us all.
Last Tuesday I was at Dagenham Green, joined by the @ldnculture.bsky.social, as Peabody and The Hill Group unveiled two new art installations to commemorate the striking Ford women. The story behind “Dagenham Agate” is fascinating and I’d urge residents to pop down and learn more!
Given the focus that exists on curbing welfare spending as well as seeking ways to ease the cost of living, now is the time to look again at rent controls. My piece in @labourlist.bsky.social here:
'The case for capping rents' - LabourList
If we can deliver a seismic shift in numbers of affordable rented homes coupled with rent controls, we can finally address our housing needs.

Big step forward for young people in Dagenham and Rainham. New Mental Health Support Teams are being trained and will soon be working in our local schools – helping children get the support they need to stay well, stay in education, and thrive.

Why would an offshore crypto CEO give Nigel Farage's Reform £25 million?
So proud, to attend the Armed Forces flag raising yesterday, at Havering town hall. To be able to thank the armed forces for all they have done, and continue to do for this country.
I was proud to be asked to speak at the launch of the foodbank by the faith group. Ideally we should be in a place in society without food banks. But as they said today, and Pastor Peter from Rainham was there too, said the same thing. Working people are using food banks. Hope is their offer.
This week @amandamartinmp.bsky.social and I launched the APPG for Tradespeople. Honoured to be elected Vice Chair on such an important group. We’ll be looking at a wide range of issues affecting trades, including tool theft and silicosis. Watch this space! 🛠️👀
Well done Dagenham United football club in all you do. Parents, trainers and the young people all 400 of you you are amazing!
Great day Saturday, a tour of 10 Downing Street. Angela got to see, and stroke Larry the cat. Who was asleep by the stairs. Loads of interesting fact
It was heart breaking to hear the stories from parents, I am determined to work and campaign with them to secure the necessary changes at Queen’s to prevent these distressing problems from happening again👇

We are a month on from the local elections, there has been a lot of change and all eyes are on @LBofHavering. Today I have written to the new Leader of the Council outlining a plan to deliver for the people I represent in the south of the borough.
I am glad to see that the war memorial on Freeborn Gardens, Elm Park, will be cleared from vegetation following our representations. We must never forget those who fought for us.

I know, from speaking with schools and parents across Dagenham & Rainham, that this has made a huge difference to families in our area. This is Labour at its best. 🌹👇
