Art for my story “Land Ho” from MORRISON HOTEL (2020), Z2Comics Story by @leahmoore.bsky.social The one thing i’ve done that my dad was interested in, being a DOORS fan. I’m Looking for drawing gigs if any of you out there like my work. Paying gigs only.

Sent over 200 emails since the start of 2026, emails in which I’ve enquired about lettering work, emails which have all gone unanswered. All to editors who I know/have worked for in the past, no cold calling. It’s terrifying that nobody will hire me. It’s my livelihood and it’s completely dried up.

It’s actually beyond belief, the extent to which the comic industry is kicking me down at the moment. Almost seems personal at this stage. But it will never succeed. Ever. I don’t give up and I’m not going anywhere.

With 23 years of continuous work as a letterer, and over 30 years of print/production experience, I’m now unable to find any new lettering work in comics. Please keep me in mind when staffing your creator-owned projects and please consider requesting me on your WFH projects 🙏

Also always worth mentioning: the first draft of lettering is NOT your opportunity to make sweeping changes. You fix mistakes at that stage, you do not rewrite your script. Letterers get paid once. Treating a lettering draft as a rewrite draft is stealing time and money from the letterer.

It's nice that so many folks have reached out to say "we're surprised that you're unable to find any lettering work". I'm not surprised, more disappointed. Seems my serious illness at the back-end of last year (100% recovered now and have been for six months) turned a lot of editors away from me.
