I'm just reporting here from my very occasional trip to Facebook, where the 'people I went to high school with'-types are beginning to acknowledge everything that Trump has fucked up--but the new thing is that he's saving so many lives by getting rid of vaccines that nothing else matters

We renamed a lake on some internal documents and MAGA is applauding the massive victory. This triumph of spectacle is…it’s not great, right? Like we’ve collectively given up on ever actually doing anything concrete; we’re just going to sit in the rot and amuse ourselves until the lights go

We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.

A poor backwoods country girl ended her life as the single most significant advocate for literacy on the planet. That’s a pretty good use of a whole lotta money. If you want to honor Dolly, honor her with books.
