Internationally-known speaker on EVs and the energy transition. Co-host, Energy Matters show. VP @ Escalent.
Yes. My humble proposal: if you can't vote for the candidate, you can't donate to their campaign. That means: no corporate donors, no out-of-state interests.
If there's one thing Americans can agree on, it's that there's too much money in politics. But the Supreme Court just decided to demolish some of the last safeguards we had left - creating an even bigger role for special interest spending.
This is quite the soap opera that unfolded in a series of obscure regulatory proceedings across the Biden and Trump administrations. www.eenews.net/articles/tru...
Trump may have created an accidental EV mandate
Automakers are concerned that a little-noticed regulatory tweak could eventually force them to quadruple their electric vehicle production.

I’ve never seen a snake at Columns Drive in the Chattahoochee NRA. Today, I see two. And my son sees another one. And I hear of one other sighting. Happy Whacking Day, to all who celebrate!
Just returned from a week in Norway, where they’re electrifying every transport sector (LDV, HDV, construction, marine, aviation). Put aside climate, put aside economics. Electric is just *better*. Quieter, smoother, no fumes. Much more pleasant to walk around the city or cruise the fjords!
Hot off the presses, #EV market share in April in Norway was 98.5%. They sold one (yes, one) gas car in the entire month!
In Norway for a series of ostensibly EV-related meetings. At a factory visit yesterday, turns out they’re also making artillery shells for the Ukrainian army. At least in the US, we treat the Ukraine war as some sort of far-away abstract thing. Yesterday’s visit was a sober reminder that it is not.
That's a pretty big drop in sales. Nearly half. Lotta underutilized factory capacity out there. Full story here: www.reuters.com/sustainabili...
What are the consequences for energy markets and the transition of a potential long disruption to the Strait of Hormuz? TLDR: It’s a *lot* easier to replace 20% of LNG (15% of natgas supply) with wind and solar than it is to replace 20% of oil with EVs. mliebreich.substack.com/p/thoughts-o...
Thoughts on the Strait of Hormuz crisis
The Strait of Hormuz is becoming the key test of strength between the US and Iran. I've been thinking about what happens if they stay closed for an extended period. My conclusions might surprise you.

Weak candidate correctly reads the mood of the electorate.
Thank you @warnock.senate.gov. No concentration camps in Georgia. No concentration camps in the US. Never again.
U.S. Sen. Warnock moves to block ICE detention warehouses in Georgia: “The people of Georgia want secure borders; they do not want massive immigration detention centers in their backyards.” www.ajc.com/news/2026/02...
You say you want to fix government budgets? Great! Immigration is part of the fix, with immigrants contributing more than they get.
The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023. The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets. https://ow.ly/jy8a50Y8kM3
You say you want criminals off the streets? Great! Time to dismantle ICE and CBP and prosecute all of the agents who committed crimes on or off duty.
"For much of the 2010s and likely before and since, it appears the crime rate of CBP agents and offices was higher PER CAPITA than the crime rate of undocumented immigrants in the United States." www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/accountabi...
Online commenters are scapegoating homeless people for yesterday's shooting at Decatur library. Many rely on our that library for services & daytime shelter. This FBI graph shows 10 yr violent crime in Decatur. Visible homelessness is surging in Decatur. Crime is not. They need help, not blame.
OMG, this!!! Caught up to a guy who close passed me recently just as he exhaled. Told him he nearly hit me, and he (high as hell) replied "oh, I'm sorry, man...I didn't even see you." I was wearing high viz yellow & had lights.
A thing urban cyclists know that urban drivers do not: how many people smoke weed while they're driving. On every ride between my house and office I smell weed from a passing car. Every day. I, for one, welcome our new robot car overlords.
Merry Christmas to all. I hope the Christmas story inspires many people. And makes a small group of people deeply uncomfortable with their life choices.
New record high temperatures have been set today (Christmas Eve) at our four main climate sites (Atlanta, Athens, Macon, and Columbus). 🌡️ATL: 78 ---> broke the previous record of 73 set in 2016 🌡️AHN: 78 ---> broke the previous record... https://x.com/NWSAtlanta/status/2003955919609373039
No, Adobe Acrobat, I don't want your AI feature to summarize what looks like a long document. I NEVER want your AI to summarize the document for me.
I’m CEO of a justice tech company that tells people never to use ChatGPT for legal advice. So naturally, I almost lost my NC driver’s license because… I used ChatGPT for legal advice. DMV said I’d be suspended for a Virginia speeding ticket. ChatGPT confidently told me the DMV was “clearly wrong.”
Non car people trying to use car metaphors 🙄
The red zone, wasted Sports cars have a tachometer, a gauge showing how close the motor is to melting down. When the revs enter the red zone, performance is enhanced--for a while. Do it too much or for too long, and you'll burn out. In our work, there are two sorts of red zones. Athletes know that…
