Today is a special day, known around the software industry as April Tools Day. On April Tools Day, disruptors and innovators share their most disruptively innovative tools to boost global productivity. At Grist, Jarek created a new widget that gamifies spreadsheet collaboration: Whack-a-Cell. 🧵

I wanted "PowerPoint, but in Grist." The community had already built it. Grist is different from most open source projects b/c you don't have to touch the source code to contribute meaningfully. Custom widgets let you build any interface on top of Grist's data — without touching Grist itself.
