The other local supermarket has just reopened after major renovations and changed the entire layout (which I hate like the next neurosparkly person) but hear me out - they put the chocolate across the aisle from the period products and that's some customer oriented design that I can get behind.

My local supermarket has introduced flirt baskets: take a pink one to signal you're open for a flirt. That's a cute idea at first glance, right? Except when all black baskets are taken. Because signalling I'm open to be flirted at when I'm not just doesn't feel *safe*. I guess it's a girl thing.

Two stacks of shopping baskets at my supermarket. One black, one pink.

A few years ago, I wrote on twitter (in the before times) about my first ever in-person conference talk. I had had a blackout mid-talk and was saved by a literal angel in the audience who broke my panic freeze by saying "Take your time". Yesterday at a talk, I met her angel colleague. 1/

I was nearly murdered by the Karneval people at the train stations and the regional trains but now I'm on an ICE train and it's much calmer. However, there's a Bundeswehroffizier and two police men in full uniform sitting around me and I. Must. Not. Compliment. Them. On. Their. Funny. Costumes.

Being the childless one of us three sisters means that at Christmas at my parents', I'm the odd job daughter. I'm prepared for all kinds of "could you real quick?" What I wasn't prepared for was being entrusted with _the talk_. But then 5yo was like "Aunty Sophie, how *do* you make babies?" 1/

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites. The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

A "hero" bystander who was filmed wrestling a gun from one of the Bondi Beach attackers has been named as 43-year-old Ahmed al Ahmed.

Video verified by the BBC showed Mr Ahmed run at the gunman and seize his weapon, before turning the gun round on him, forcing his retreat.

Mr Ahmed, a fruit shop owner and father of two, remains in hospital, where he has undergone surgery for bullet wounds to his arm and hand, his family told 7News Australia.

I knew the universe would punish me one day for being the fun aunty who gives her niblings the annoying toys with sounds and lights for Christmas. I assumed it would be when I have kids of my own. I was wrong. It's today. 1/3

Decided to fight my winter blues with a bit of dopamine dressing and went for a coral pink and butter yellow combo (it's gorge, trust me). Colleague decided he needed to comment "oh, Sophie is going all in today, colourwise, höhöhö". Dude.

The witch made him hot chocolate. "They say I'm strong," he said. "And I am." He took a sip. "They say I can overcome any hardship." "Mm," said the witch. "And I can. I do." The witch said nothing. "But I shouldn't have to!" "No." The witch held the hero as he wept. "No, you shouldn't."
