"Gay Small was supposed to spend Labor Day weekend in North Carolina, taking long walks with her sister, picking apples with her grandkids. 'But she died at Tampa General Hospital early Friday, on her 80th birthday. From a mosquito bite, her family said." She may have died from Dengue Fever.
A Tampa woman was diagnosed with dengue fever. Within a week, she was dead.
If confirmed by public health officials, it would be Tampa Bay’s first dengue fever death in a century.
