📢 This Cervical Screening Awareness Week, we're sharing information about cervical screening and ways to make your appointment feel a little easier. Cervical screening is one of the most effective ways to help prevent cervical cancer. It is estimated to save around 5,000 lives every year in the UK.

Last month, we submitted our response to the Timms Review. 📝 The message from people affected by cancer is clear: support systems need to reflect the reality of living with a serious illness. Cancer doesn't always fit neatly into boxes.

Today marks two years since the launch of Claire’s Campaign. In that time, we’ve helped amplify women’s voices, pushed gynaecological cancers further up the agenda in Wales, challenged gaps in care and awareness, and worked alongside patients, families, clinicians, and policymakers to drive change.

Today marks one year since Claire died. Claire was kind, driven, and fiercely committed to making things better, not just for herself, but for others. Her story is the reason this campaign exists. Claire’s story brought people together and continues to drive change across Wales.

Unpaid carers play a central role in cancer care in Wales, but recognition alone isn’t enough. In our response to the National Carers Strategy, we’re clear: ➡️ Recognition must lead to timely, meaningful support ➡️ Access must be consistent across Wales, not dependent on postcode

The Rare Cancers Act is a significant step forward for people affected by rare and less survivable cancers. It places new responsibilities on Government to accelerate research, improve access to clinical trials, and strengthen support for innovation.

On #InternationalWomensDay, we remember Claire. Claire died in May 2025 aged 42 from uterine leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that is often diagnosed late. When Claire first presented with symptoms, she was told it was IBS. As months passed, she had to insist on further investigation.
