Why I do what I do: met a former palliative care nurse & was describing how devout Muslims can hold up a single finger to represent the Shahadah if they're unable to speak. She'd never heard of this. "I wonder how many times nurses see this, think someone is agitated, and drug them."
So proud to have been involved in The Victoria & Stuart Project! @victstuproject.bsky.social
"The remarkable project reaches an under-served community and provides numerous accessible resources around the often neglected area of end of life care planning with people with learning disabilities." The Victoria and Stuart Project wins the ASDS Public Engagement Award. @tuffrey-wijne.com #ddd17
The ASDS Public Engagement Award has gone to the Victoria and Stuart Project @asdsdeath.bsky.social @ddd17-2025.bsky.social #DDD17 . Congratulations!
Check out our new paper! 📰 We learned a lot about how the end-of-life care planning toolkit works in practice - and a lot about how to evaluate things in the future (talking to peole and short and straightforward surveys!). The toolkit is still available on: www.victoriaandstuart.com
💡 NEW PAPER PUBLISHED 💡 We tested our toolkit with Support Workers, who said they had lovely eye-opening conversations with the people they support. They also said that printing the resources is a challenge during a busy workday (our new Print & Deliver project to the rescue!). We learned a lot!
