After collecting hundreds of signatures (twice!), a canceled election, and months spent knocking doors to continue building this campaign, I’ve officially re-qualified to run for Congress in Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District, the seat held by House Majority Steve Scalise.

Behind her, glass doors display the state seal and a "State Archivist" plaque. The Lauren Jewett for U.S. Congress, District 1 logo appears in the top left, and bold pink-and-teal text across the bottom reads "I'm Qualified!!"

Testimonial Tuesday is back and we are kicking it off with one from Jim Randels, a Congressional District 1 voter. I served on United Teachers of New Orleans executive council for many years with Jim who was a longtime English teacher in Orleans Parish.

The Lauren Jewett campaign logo appears at top, featuring a white magnolia flower over a navy Louisiana state outline, with 'LAUREN JEWETT' in green and pink text and 'U.S. CONGRESS • DISTRICT 1' beneath it. Below is a quote in white text on a navy background with pink and light pink swirl accents in the corners: 'Lauren always listens to and learns from the people: colleagues, students, parents, elders. She will listen to and learn from all constituents and this provides an important, independent, and refreshing bi-partisan approach to legislation and representation.' The quote is attributed in a pink box with white border: 'Jim Randels, *Former teaching and union (UTNO) colleague, *Congressional District 1 Resident.'

Congressional redistricting really upended our U.S. House elections here in Louisiana. However, we have discovered through our analysis of the new map and outreach to new precincts, that we picked up precinct 6-7 in New Orleans and I just have to embrace the small opening for a laugh in this chaos.

As of Thursday afternoon, all of our nominating petition packets to get back on the ballot for U.S. Congress for Louisiana’s 1st District have officially been picked up from the parish registrars to be ready for qualifying next week!

We are 💯 days out from Election Day! We are also 10 days out from qualifying in Baton Rouge to get back on the ballot after Gov. Jeff Landry’s 4/30 response to the Callais case canceled the closed party primaries and wiped away the candidacies of all U.S. House candidates in Louisiana.

Fundraising graphic on navy background. Header text reads: 'Pick a number square for your specific donation amount and comment "I donated" with your amount! Donate at bit.ly/laurenjewett.'
