Mayama and colleagues generate ACTH-responsive, cortisol- and androgen-producing human adrenocortical cells from induced pluripotent stem cells. This platform models prenatal functional zonation in vitro and in vivo, enabling mechanistic studies of human adrenal development and steroidogenesis and providing a foundation for future cell-based therapies for adrenal disorders.
