This tracks with larger patterns in far-right spaces and offers a dark mirror of what happened in the 80s. The presence of Trump & failure of media to hold the GOP to account has actively emboldened the far-right in ways that guarantee violence when they face setbacks and reversal.

That is what the Teenage Republicans/College Republicans/Young Republicans have become. It's been this way for almost 10 years and people still don't get it.
I think the fundamental problem with how AI is being treated, as opposed to the actual reality of AI, is that its biggest proponents call their creations God-like and treat them like toys. The hubris & irresponsibility in that mentality is more than enough reason to take those toys away from them.
