saw Transformers '86 in a theatre today. First time watching it in almost 15 years; my 20th anniversary DVD was left behind when i moved to CA i still love it as much as i did then. it might be a 90 minute toy commercial dressed up like an anime music video but god its stylish and quotable.

You can’t even comprehend how important Eien ni Hen’s work is to the fan translation community. Romancing SaGa, Fire Emblem, Sakura Wars, Tear Ring Saga, Glory of Heracles, Dragon Force II, Dark Half, Beyond Oasis, Psi-O-Blade, Arabian Nights, and so much more. What a loss. Rest in peace.

I love how this just seems to be a universal experience with NES Metroid. Even for *ME*, Mr. Arcadey Action cutscene hating fast-paced flow state CRUNCH man, even I came around on it when I meticulously logged every room on graph paper. (Mark's are a lot prettier but still, mine are MINE.)

this is such a fun little horror moment in metroid 2. absolutely perfect use of the gameboy's memory limits: you want to get some space between you and the surprise metroid, but the hole you shot to get here has already filled with sand again. you're trapped.

Slippy makes emotes when he gives you hints in the Japanese version of SFAd hahaha. This is when he tells you check Peppy's map, i wonder if there are others.

Literally what fandom discourse has turned into I fear.

there's a lot of love for pre-rendered backgrounds in games (and rightfully so) but there should be more love for 3D fixed-camera games too! Just as cinematic, but now rooms can dynamically turn and reveal and stuff! A lot of games I love do this: Silent Hill, Eternal Darkness, Lament of Innocence.

this one hurts. Sam Neil was a favorite actor of me and my brother growing up. Jurassic Park yes obviously but also Mouth of Madness, Event Horizon, the Merlin miniseries... we loved this guy and the natural affability he brought. its gonna be different watching those from now on :(

The legendary Sam Neill has died. He was 78 and had been battling stage 3 blood cancer, but announced in the spring that he was cancer-free. His family described his passing as “sudden and unexpected.”

In response to PlayStation going full-digital, Nintendo’s next console should go back to using big, gray cartridges that are mostly empty space and feel really satisfying to push into a slot.
