Final day of DIBS Dream Teams! We're proud to provide 3 years of support for all 5 of the new research collectives. 5. Embodied Learning Frameworks for Brain-Inspired AI. This Team will integrate perspectives across science and the humanities to explore how embodied learning can inform AI design.

Cartoon illustration of a woman out walking, touching the leaf of a tree as she passes by, with depictions of her brain linking both to her arm & hand, and also to an abstract cluster of nodes representing a computational network.

Day 3 of DIBS Dream Teams! (details in comment) 3. Enabling Neuro Discovery & Translation with Functional Genomics in Human Brain Organoid Systems (Fun-BOSS). They will develop high-throughput CRISPR screening in brain organoids, share the tech widely, & teach disease modeling & functional genomics

Illustration depicts a brain organoid on the left (looks like a sphere of cells) and a human brain on the right, connected by arrows and images showing wet lab testing (a pipette & tray) and computer analyses (monitor with neat graphs of various kinds).

Day 2 of DIBS Dream Teams! Each of the 5 Teams will be supported by DIBS for 3 years to grow a community around a specific topic in the brain sciences. 2. Nurturing NeuroArts at Duke. This Team will explore interrelations between the arts and neuroscience through research, education, and outreach.

Abstract illustration, in the style of a watercolor painting, depicting a spiral superimposed on the silhouette of a human head profile. Very colorful.

DIBS is proud to announce the launch of 5 Dream Teams for building new research communities at Duke! One per day all week. Award details in comment. 1. Duke Brain Ultrasound Initiative. It aims to build a cross-school community for ultrasound imaging, neuromodulation, and clinical translation.

I’m on the faculty job market this fall! 🐦🧠 I’m an NIH K99/R00 awardee studying how the brain learns complex skills, using birdsong to connect molecules, synapses, circuits, behavior & computation. Know of a search where I might fit? Please send it my way & share!

Drew Schreiner, Ph.D. | Neuroscience of Learning

I use birdsong to understand how the brain learns complex skills across molecules, synapses, circuits, behavior, and computation. On the 2026–27 faculty job market.

I fear that placing too much emphasis on a specific interpretation of dimensionality, or treating dimensionality as an end-all quantification of some aspect of neural computation, may lead us down the wrong path, writes @mattperich.bsky.social. #neuroskyence www.thetransmitter.org/neural-dynam...

Dimensionality—neuroscience’s red herring?

Placing too much emphasis on a specific interpretation of dimensionality may lead neuroscience down the wrong path.

Has anyone taught a course of the Cognitive Neuroscience of Vision (w/ emphasis on the neuro side)? Would you be able and willing to share your slides etc. to help me develop a course?
