Trying to follow the modern economy feels like I'm playing a board game where I've supposedly been taught the rules, but nobody plays in a way that makes sense and the winners and losers are never whom I expect.
I'm having another one of those nights where history feels too damn big. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurrian_
Parallel does amazing work. I got a backpack for @raijen.bsky.social as a gift, and he gets stopped by people at cons all the time, telling him how cute it is. You have about 3 hours to put in a form!
Form is closing today and there's still only one submission. Don't forget to apply, you have a very good chance of being picked!
I got a show from the plane as the sun set on another Anthrocon. The con was wonderful, despite the weather. I'm glad I got to meet so many folks in suit, and I'm happy I got to spend time with many fuzzies I hold dear to me. I also loved the mini con we got to have in the airport on the way out.
The long-awaited recording of our inaugural Corgi Sandiego game at MFF is now live! Come bask in 1990s children's geography crimefighting gameshow nostalgia with us! Huge thanks to our agents, @yvethered.bsky.social and @piroshki.bsky.social, and the voice of Corgi @lilshark.bsky.social!

Look, it's a children's book about the most annoying people on the Internet right now
Sometimes it's the little things in life that will just ruin your day.
Yesterday, there was a company-wide announcement about Claude, so I peeked in at how things are going in the "ai-tooling" work chat.
Circuit design is my passion The 5V section has gotten more complicated. I'm up to 25 unique components.
Work was long and tiring. It's like they didn't even know that it's World Donkey Day and they all legally have to be nice to me.
Look at me, out here bench testing like I know what I'm doing. Let's not talk about the prototype PCBs I got fabbed with a design flaw, leading to this moment.
The awful moment when you're finally making the phone call, but it's been ringing long enough that all your courage to speak with a stranger has evaporated. So you beg it to go to voicemail so you can just talk to a machine.
As LLM corpo-speak becomes more common at my work, I find myself drifting further toward the other end of the spectrum. Instead of messaging my team with: "Hey, can I get a quick review on this code change?" I'll drop: "I yet again yearn for personal and professional validation of my toils."
I've been half working on my Masto2Bsky reposter lately, trying to add support for content warnings.
In a cooler future, a title like this from a company named "Tailscale" would have a much different meaning. tailscale.com/blog/hypergrowth
I'm doing something crazy and actually posting some of my adult stuff here.
I'm not that into horror, but I'd love to see a legitimately scary movie about an evil dragon.
This has been a labor of love for MONTHS so I'm proud to announce that we'll be running the first ever game of "Where in the World is Corgi Sandiego?" at MFF! Because what more villainous vacation could there be besides a cat-and-mouse pursuit around the world?
This is one of the craziest stories from history that I'd never heard anything about before. It's a tragic drama with romance, political intrigue, and, of course, murder. I real-life gasped several times reading the article. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaucham Some choice quotes:
The deer have already eaten our jack-o-lanterns as of this morning. No respect.
Last night, I was working on my mastodon->bluesky reposter, because it was adding blank posts to threads (a problem I thought I had fixed months ago). For like 2 hours, I hunted for the flaw in my logic that made it fail in those specific scenarios, but I couldn't recreate the problem. So I gave up.
Thinking about how corpos get human interaction with customer service absolutely backwards as I try to pay my insurance bill. Their website was down, so I had to call.
Being in a meeting with the head of our company is insane.
The latest iteration of my ongoing attempts to make a foldable drying hanger with power.
Separately, I wrote this piece about parasocial relationships, influencers, social media technology, and society. The title was meant to be punny, not clickbait. (Puns are kind of my thing.) soatok.blog/2025/09/16/a...

It is tempting and forgivable to believe that weโre in control of our social media experiences. After all, we write what we want in our bio, select our avatars, and even come up with our own โฆ
