This week we were delighted to welcome back David Ironside @braeshighschool.bsky.social for a session on effective questioning. We explored how to engineer discussions that capture evidence of learning, with a focus on the importance of pre-planning questions. A thought-provoking morning!🗣️ 🧐 ❓

This week we took our CLPL to the pedagogy pod where Lysa Thomson @pact-falkirk.bsky.social & Eilidh McDonald delivered an engaging and inspiring session on Play pedagogy. It was also great to see the creative and inviting play spaces @carronshoreprimary.bsky.social Thank you for having us ☺️

Our ‘Feature of the Month’ in the Carronshore Pedagogy Pod is multiple choice questioning. A great strategy for retrieval practice and to deepen thinking. 🤔 Also helps to support discussion and identify any misconceptions in learning. #PACTFalkirk

During PLC 5, probationer colleagues reflected on what it means to be a teacher in Scotland, focussing on the core values that practitioners uphold. Photos show a snapshot of the professional dialogue that took place throughout this meeting. 🗣️

We had a brilliant day with Falkirk’s newest cohort of primary teachers - getting to grips with Global Citizenship Education, where it sits as part of Learning for Sustainability in the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 curriculum + trying out some methodologies to help learners make sense of the big issues in our shared world 🌍

Over three sessions, Practitioner Enquiry input has supported understanding of its purpose, the development of an effective question and practical tips on how to carry out the enquiry process. A big thank you to Lisa Buchanan, Ashely Johnston and Judith Degnan for their time and expertise. 🖊️

This week’s GIRFEC session provided us with a clear understanding of the origins of GIRFEC and its significance. The session emphasised the vital role of GIRFEC in supporting our young people. Thank you to Winnie Delaney and Karin Stuart for delivering this valuable training.

Thank you to Gillian Campbell and Lyn McLafferty for leading such a valuable CLPL session exploring mental health and well-being. The session highlighted a range of supports available for both practitioners and learners, reinforcing the importance of well-being across our communities.

During this week’s core sessions we focussed on the key elements that contribute to successful writing lessons.We explored stages of the writing process including exploration of resources & how to include opportunities for meaningful feedback.Our Halloween themed context brought added excitement! 🎃

We took our learning outdoors this week at our fabulous twilight session delivered by Stacey Cassidy @airthprimary.bsky.social. We gained lots of practical ideas and developed our knowledge of planning for effective outdoor learning. 🏕️🪾🪵👬

Thank you to Catrina Fraser from Includion Wellbeing Service for helping to deepen our understanding of behaviours and providing us with strategies that can support our learners in class.

This week we explored planning using the Literacy Progression Pathways to meet the needs of all learners. We then took time to share our own weekly plans with our peers and discussed our non negotiables and personal choice when it comes to creating our own plans. 📔
