People look at a movie that does literally nothing uniquely bad from like 15 other animated movies of the past 15 years but act like it's corporate evil
Lilly 🏳️⚧️ 𖥂@lillybunnyy.bsky.social · 2d agoThe Super Mario Bros Movie: I finally saw this after 3 years, and I enjoyed it, generic & tropey for sure but the animation was shockingly pretty for Illumination & the action scenes ranged from great visual gags to fun things from the games. Nothing amazing, but it's certainly fun like the games.

I think where some characters benefit is having the focus of a singular writer handling them to keep them consistent and structured in the story. In particular Norman and Aunt May come to mind. I think it's understandable to do different takes to explore within the confines of this but I don't
Want it to replace the 616 characterisations. I'm the most annoying about Mary Jane person on the planet but I'll once again say that removing her unique characteristics to make her, childhood friend nerd who has barely any character traits outside of her relationship to Peter is not my fave thing
