Every time they played “Nine to Five” on the radio this week it turned into an unstable earworm that kept slipping into the adjacent attractor in music-space for “Heart of Glass”. But now I just learned that Dolly Parton did a *cover* of “Heart of Glass” in 2023 featuring Debbie Harry …

Okay I read a lot of papers about voluntary attention and that's the wildest title I've read for a while 😵 Gonna block out some time and get my teeth into this ASAP. Looking forward to it!

🔥🔥New paper alert! Super excited to share our paper, out today in @nathumbehav.nature.com, led by the wonderful Dr. Nofar Mizrachi! nature.com/articles/s41... To me, this finding fundamentally changes how we should think about the relationship between cognition and immune regulation:

This has always bugged me. One in every nine humans is left-handed and we cogneuro folks just seem deeply incurious about whether and how that matters for functional brain organisation. Bravo to these authors, and interesting to see that in their specific case there aren't relevant differences.

In honor of International Left-Handers Day, we have an updated preprint on scanning left-handed participants in fMRI studies. Although they're 11% of the population, we routinely screen LH people out of fMRI studies due to concerns about functional lateralization 1/n www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Does anybody else sometimes get entirely overwhelmed at how incredibly talented and passionate and f***ing *incredible* their junior colleagues are? Like damn, if all we needed was for the folks coming up to have their sh*t together we would be in *such* a good place.

Enjoying Birmingham City Council's approach to cold weather. Grit all the big roads but leave the small ones to ice up so drivers don't realise they need to slow down. Don't grit the bike lanes so cyclists have to choose between slipping in the bike lane and sharing space with angry cars...
